60 DAYS to activate new SNAP chip/tap cards
DTA is rolling out new chip/tap-enabled EBT cards to all clients, replacing the current magstripe-only cards. This will increase security and change benefit access.
Clients should activate the new chip/tap card as soon as it arrives.
To activate their card: they can either make a purchase with the new card or call the number on the back to set a new PIN. Either action activates the new card and automatically deactivates the old one. They have 60 days before their old, non-chip card is automatically deactivated.
This is a major shift in how clients access and protect their benefits. Clients to activate their new chip/tap EBT card as soon as it arrives.
If a client does not have a working card, they can request one through DTA Connect, the EBT Customer Service line (800-997-2555), or by visiting a TAO.
