Program Assistant

We are looking for a Program Assistant with excellent organizational and attention-to-detail skills to join our team. Our ideal candidate will be able to engage easily with older adults and be responsible for assisting with the planning, coordination and delivery of social, recreational, wellness, and special events.

Hours: Monday- Thursday 9:30 am - 3:30 pm with a ½ hour unpaid lunch break. Fridays 9:30 am - 2:30 pm. This position is approximately 25 hours per week with benefits.

Essential Functions:

  • Help develop and implement a variety of activities and programs: social, educational, recreational, arts/crafts, wellness, and special events.
  • Assist in scheduling, organizing, and facilitating classes or events.
  • Support Instructors/Volunteers delivering programs, including helping with set up/breakdown of events.
  • Assist with bi-monthly luncheons, including set up, serving,  clean up and interacting with participants.
  • Accept and consider program feedback, comments and ideas from participants.
  • Monitor programs held off-site, as needed.
  • Answer phone calls and inquiries from vendors, instructors, and participants.
  • Provide support for program activities, such as preparing materials and resources.
  • Gather feedback from participants in a variety of ways.
  • Perform industry research to stay up-to-date with best practices and inform the development and enhancement of programs.
  • Maintain accurate records, attendance, program registration, sign-in sheets, supply inventories and event documentation.
  • Other duties as needed to run programs.

Education and Experience: or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

  • Associate’s Degree and two years of experience in assisting with the planning, organizing and implementation of programs or events. 

Special Requirements: 

  • CPR and First Aid certified, or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.
  • Must be able to pass a CORI Check.

Hiring range:

$20.00 per hour - $24.00 per hour, salary is commensurate with education and experience.
