Reframing Aging: Stronger Communities for All
Shifting mindsets. Strengthening connections. Supporting every age.
Ready to change the conversation about aging? Accept the challenge. Break down bias. Change the conversation.
This engaging workshop for COA staff and invited community partners explores how everyday phrases and assumptions reinforce ageist stereotypes and shape our attitudes and actions. Words matter — and the way we talk about aging can either perpetuate harmful narratives or help build stronger, more inclusive communities.
Participants will learn how established mindsets influence decision-making, discover strategies to counter harmful narratives, identify and eliminate age bias and elderspeak, and apply research-based reframing principles to support older adults and strengthen age-friendly efforts.
